Orchard Harvest - Part 3 - Scrapbook

If you're every having a hard time coming up with ideas, use google image search. I search for the name of the stamp set and get all kinds of cards, projects, and scrapbook pages. In the same Thanksgiving card search that led me to Rae Anne's birthday card, I found a scrapbook page that was made with the Orchard Harvest DSP. I used that page as my inspiration to create this page that I will use to scrapbook Elliott's first trip to the pumpkin patch. We took about sixty pictures that day so I'm going to crank out a few more of this design, while adding room for more pictures.

Now that I've gotten my Thanksgiving projects made, it's time to work on Christmas cards. I hope to make a few different designs and get them posted starting next week :)

Orchard Harvest Part 1

Stampin' UP! has created a monster with their new Orchard Harvest Suite. I used it to make my Thanksgiving card, and I've also used it to make a birthday card, scrapbook page, and this place card.

Jeremy had a potluck at work for Halloween and they all make signs to tell what dishes they have made. I made up this little sign for him to take with the caramel pumpkin tiramisu I made. I forgot to take a picture of the dessert though but it turned out really pretty and from what I hear, it was delicious!

Happy Thanksgiving

Today I am thankful for many things and one of them is that I have the ability to be a Stampin' UP! demonstrator.

This card was made using the Orchard Harvest Suite from the 2012 holiday mini catalog. Once again, my good friend Rachel inspired my card so I'm also thankful that she has a blog so I can copy all her good ideas :)

To cut the jar out of the card, I used the cannery framelits die. I had never used the framelits die before and I didn't know that when you cut out the image the die leaves a border on the paper you're cutting from. If you're cutting out a die to use as the die this doesn't matter but if you're going to use it to make a card like I did, then you'll want to turn the card over and cut out the die on the opposite side. That way, when the card is put together, the side with the border will be on the inside of the card, and in this case, covered by the window sheet.

You may notice that I made several different versions of this card. I didn't have enough Lucky Limeade cardstock to make all my cards so I decided to use More Mustard as my card base. I cut several different strips of Orchard Harvest DSP to make the jar lids and used the leftover scraps to layer on the Early Espresso cardstock. After making a card with the More Mustard I decided that since the pear on the inside was going to be More Mustard, it was too much yellow. Once all the cards were made though, I decided that the More Mustard card was my favorite of all the different versions that I made.

Paper: Orchard Harvest DSP, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, More Mustard

Ain't Love Grand Get Well

While I was trying to find some ideas to make a wedding card for my friends Lauren and Andrew, I kept coming across this card. This card was featured at a Stampin' UP! event at Disney World. One of the best things about being a demonstrator is the ability to go to great events while also being inspired by all the creative demonstrators out there. As usual, I tweaked this card a little. Most of the ones I saw were on Pool Party card stock instead of Whisper White and they used buttons. I wanted to use white as my base card though so instead of using pool party as the backing, I decided to use all the rainbow colors that I previously used. It's hard to see in the picture but I stamped the umbrella top on a scrap, cut it out and glued it on top of the umbrella to give it some dimension. I also used crystal effects on the raindrops and puddles to give it the watery effect.

I love how this card turned out and the only negative I have to say about it is that (fortunately) I don't know anyone who needs to get well that I can send it to.

Supplies
Stamps: Ain't Love Grand (r,h)
Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Pacific Point, Real Red
Ink: Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Chocolate Chip, Soft Suede, Stazon
Accessories: snail adhesive, crystal effects, Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder

Decorative Label Punch Layering Tutorial

Welcome to my first tutorial! Earlier this week I posted a card that I made using the decorative label punch. The blog that I found the card on didn't mention how they created the layered look so I had to search to find out how to do it. This happens alot in the stamping world. I know that I often post things with no explanation to how I've done something and I just assume that everyone knows how to do what I'm doing :)

So, with that said, I am actually going to show you how I layered the decorative label punch! Most of my audience are my SU friends who are WAY better than me and know how to do all this stuff BUT maybe I'll be able to teach my mom something :) Hi Mom! Also, I don't get a lot of comments, which is fine, I'm a definite lurker on blog sites but if anyone ever has any questions about how I did something please feel free to comment. I won't bite, I promise :)

Okay, so enough chit chat, on with the show.

To start with, you will need to punch three (3) decorative labels. For simplicity sake, I didn't use a stamped image but there are several different ones you can use. If you are using a stamped image, stamp your image first, then punch it out. One punch will be your top layer and the other two will be used as the bottom layer.

Next, using your paper snips, cut your bottom layer punches in half, one vertically and one horizontally.

Each punch half will need to be trimmed to create the right shape for layering. The punch that is cut on the short side will need to be trimmed to create an upside down heart. I put my paper snips in between the outermost bump on each side and cut up diagonally to the middle on the opposite end. The punch that is cut in half lengthwise will just need the pointy ends trimmed off on both the top and bottom.

Discard the trimmings and you should end up with the following pieces.

Now you will begin the layering process. I used two way glue on the back of my Blushing Bride card stock. Start your layering with the punch that was cut in half lengthwise and glue the pieces together.

Glue down the second lengthwise cut punch opposite of your first glued piece.

Finally, glue down the punches that were cut on the short side and you'll have your finished layered punch.

I want to give a special thanks to Debbie Henderson, fellow Stampin' UP! demonstrator, for teaching me how to layer this punch and I hope everyone enjoyed my first tutorial :-)

Ain't Love Grand

A few months ago my very good friends Lauren and Andrew finally tied the knot ;) Jeremy and I wish we could have been there but unfortunately traveling with a little one who hates sitting still for more than five minutes was not an option. They also went to London on their honeymoon and got to do the Harry Potter studio tour. I'm of course super jealous but I got to see all their pictures and they were really cool.

Since I'm a slacker it took me a little while to get their card made (only two months...haha) but I finally sat down and did it. I cased this card here but tweaked it for my tastes and supplies. Like the original poster, I stamped the card on brushed silver and then cut it out to layer over the white cardstock.

Stay tuned later in the week for my very first tutorial on how to create the layered look using the decorative label punch!

Scrapping Southlands

Last month we had some friends and family visit us for a couple of weeks. Our first visitors were our friends RP and Derek. We had a jam packed week with them and between our three cameras we took a TON of pictures. I think at one count we had over 1300 pictures. I've been trying to go through all of our pictures and narrow them down to a reasonable amount for scrapbooking. When we printed Elliott's Halloween picture I printed up pictures from just two days of our "staycation" and still ended up printing over 30 pictures.

Luckily for me, my good friend Rachel has been creating some great scrapbook pages with room for lots of pictures. I CASED this layout from her scrapbook club to make a page documenting our trip to this outdoor mall that's by our apartment. You might not be able to tell but I chose my colors based on my argyle purse that my mom and I made. You may also see that I've done some journaling. I never journal on my scrapbook pages; usually a title is enough words for me but since Rachel left a spot and the title wasn't self explanatory I decided that journaling would add a nice touch. I also thought I had the same number of pictures that Rachel used on her page but I had one less so I needed to fill up that space.

I hope that everyone is having a great weekend!
