Mmmm...Cake

Since I wasn't happy with the colors that I picked for my last scrapbook page, I decided to go back to basics and use a DSP to help me with my color choices. Plus, I told my dear husband that I wouldn't buy anymore DSP until I had used up some of what I already had. The next day I got the holiday mini and fell in love with the new specialty papers. I stayed true to my word though and I didn't buy any. I'm planning to make several more pages like this one for wedding reception pictures and hopefully get through the pack of Sweet Always that's just been hanging around for 4 years :)

Also, you can't tell in the picture but when I cut the letters out with the big shot, I used some leftover chocolate chip card stock that had been embossed with the lattice square embossing folder. The letters look really cool with the pattern against the striped paper. I was afraid that it would be a little too much with all that was going on with the page but it really helps the letters stand up against all the patterns.

Virtual Scrapbook Club

Now that the weather's cooling down outside (it's a thousand degrees in my stamp room from the Colorado sun) I'm getting back into the stamping mood. Fortunately for me, this coincided with my friends stamp night. They live a million miles away though so we had to stamp via Skype. It was a lot of fun and I love the layout that Rae Anne came up with. I wasn't as in love with my final project though. I was trying to use up some retired paper and the colors just weren't quite right. Their pages looked terrific though and I can't wait until the next time we get to stamp "together."

Denver Zoo

Usually I don't have any trouble deciding on colors to use while scrapbooking. Sometimes though I want to do something a little different than what I would normally do so if the SU color coach isn't helping me, I'll check out the challenges at colourQ. They do challenges every week with colors inspired by everyday inspirations. One of the challenges they did early on was based on a peacock. I thought that was fitting for this page given that we ate lunch with a peacock on this trip to the zoo.

I hope you enjoy!

How far can you jump?

At the Denver Zoo they have a fun exhibit where you can do a broad jump. Derek, Jeremy, and I all attempted this (RP wouldn't, although it's good she didn't or I would've had too many pictures for the page). I jumped the farthest by far, even though my husband says I cheated. I think he's just jealous of my mad ups ;)

This page was a bit of a pain to make because I had 21 pictures to get on one page, along with a decently long title. I think it turned out super cute though and I love how the strips look like little movies and you can almost see the motion.

Baby's 1st Halloween

If you're ever looking for cute layouts for cards or scrapbooks, check out google image search. I search for "12x12 layouts" or if I have a specific stamp set I want to use I'll search for that. I did this the other day and created this page based on several different designs I found. I also have about 12 tabs open on my crafting computer for future ideas :)

I hope you enjoy!

Fun with Friends

I know, I'm a lousy updater, I guess that's what happens when you have a one year old with separation anxiety issues :)

Anyway, I've got a million pictures to scrapbook so I set myself a goal to finish scrapping a packet of pictures we had developed last November. $17 worth of pictures later and I've met my goal!!

This layout was inspired, as most of my layouts are, by my good friend Rachel. She's a good demonstrator who actually updates her blog more than once every six months.

I hope you enjoy!
